A wimpel is a Torah binder that was traditionally made when a
baby boy was born. It was then presented to the synagogue on the
occasion of the boy becoming a bar mitzvah. Wimpels are
now created to note the birth of
daughters as well.
Emor illustrates the symbols of Shabbat
and the festivals which are described in the Torah portion Emor.
When you click on the photo, you will see a detail of the
right side of the wimpel, a depiction of the 7 species mentioned
in the Torah. This wimpel measures 6" x 36."
